McLean, VA – 03 April 2020 – Solerity leads a team that provides valuable support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the distribution of more than a $1B annually through grant programs such as the Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP), Port Security Grant Program (PSGP), and the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) program.
With the passage of a COVID-19 relief bill that includes state emergency funding, FEMA relies on our Systems and Business Support Branch (SBSB) team to support its Grant Program Directorate (GPD) to distribute COVID-19 relief funds to Americans in need – as fast as possible.
In response to urgent requirements for support, our team is creating a separate Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for supplemental EMPG funding, working closely with FEMA leadership to distribute funds while ensuring all audit trails are in place to minimize waste, fraud, and abuse.
Our work in this effort includes configuring the NOFO, testing the updates, distributing applicable communications, providing training as needed, and adding extra hours to the Service Desk. Our team oversees and administers every aspect of the Non-Disaster Grant Program, including:
- ND Grants Application: providing requirements input; creating, maintaining, and archiving software application test cases; thoroughly testing new releases of the ND Grants application, and performing regression testing of pre-existing functionality.
- User Training: training (on-line and in-person) internal and external ND Grants users; creating, updating, and archiving user manuals; and creating, updating, distributing, and archiving Quick Reference Guides (QRGs).
- Communications: creating, coordinating, and distributing application notifications; creating, coordinating, and distributing training notifications; and coordinating and maintaining a branding strategy.
- Configuration: creating and distributing workbooks detailing each funding opportunity’s specifics and configuring funding opportunities in the ND Grants application.
- User Support: staffing the ND Grants Service Desk (Tiers I and II); providing FEMA leadership with metrics to drive future application/training decisions.
